Getting Started With Herbs & Essential Oils

I first became interested in herbs and oils back in 2002 or 2003, after my father was diagnosed with cancer, and I had my first flare-up of psoriasis. In an effort to resolve the red and irritated skin patches, I started doing all sorts of research into the causes of such ailments. In turn, I became concerned about all the chemicals we put onto and into our bodies. As we ran out of things in the house, I purchased products that were cleaner and more natural: household cleaners, skin and hair products, and even food products.

In me, it started a movement that has set the course for my life ever since. I went to school and gained an herbal consultant certificate, and started creating herbal remedies for our home. Homemade muscle salves and sprays, herbal diuretics… I ran the gamut.

I made my own creams, and blushes. I went no-poo (which is the no shampoo movement) for a while, and even started making my own deodorant with essential oils.

And the University of Google is great for learning about such things. But let’s be honest, it’s time consuming.
