I Don’t Want To Waste Food

Q:

I’m trying to be mindful of everything I do but sometimes I grab something to eat before I even think then I go ahead and finish what I’m eating because I don’t want to waste food… how can I change that?

A:

Wasting food is a big program for a lot of people. The thing to realize is that food is wasted the moment you purchase it.

  • If you don’t eat it, and throw it out, it becomes waste.
  • If you buy it, and throw it in the trash, it’s wasted.
  • If you eat it, you turn it into poop, and thus it’s wasted.

The thing with stuffing into your body to turn it to waste is that you not only do you have to turn it into poop, but you ALSO have to work through those extra calories that you didn’t need. Extra calories means a bigger waist.

The more interesting question (and IMO where the work needs doing) is why are you grabbing the food in the first place? Are you hungry? Stressed? Tired? Once you figure out what you are after you have the option of choosing something more healthful and in line with your goals.

“Short Answer: Why are you grabbing the food in the first place?”
